LaserCap Now FDA Cleared

LaserCap

LaserCap's LCPRO model just received FDA clearance as a treatment for female hair loss.

This is great news for all of my patients as it's further validation of the product's efficacy.

I've been using the LaserCap in my practice for several years, and it's the most effective low-level laser therapy (LLLT) wearable unit I have encountered.

The LaserCap is a lightweight, dome-shaped, portable device that is worn on the head and easily concealed under a hat. It offers 224 laser diodes, providing global coverage of the scalp. This is a highly effective treatment for women, as well as men, who are experiencing thinning hair. Although LLLT can't regrow follicles once they're dead and gone, it is proven effective at 'restarting' follicles that have begun to miniaturize.

Bauman Medical Group is currently in the midst of a clinical trial study of the LaserCap, so stay tuned for more information!

FDA Clinical Trial for Women with "Thinning" Hair

Photo from The Doctors show

Bauman Medical Group is currently seeking female candidates for a 16-week FDA clinical trial of the LaserCap, a low level laser therapy wearable device for the treatment of thinning hair.

Women between the ages of 17-70 who are noticing thinner, wispier hair, a thinner ponytail, a wider part-line or extensive amounts of hair in the sink or brush are encouraged to apply. Since the testing is being done in Boca Raton, Florida, you must either live in the South Florida area or be able to travel for two consult visits during the 16-week test.

My clinical practice has been using the LaserCap to treat "thinning" hair for some time now, and I've previously appeared on The Doctors and The Suzanne Somers Show to explain the science behind this treatment.

Re-Airing of The Suzanne Show Interview: 3/6, 3/9 & 3/10

If you missed my recent appearance on The Suzanne Show and our discussion on hair loss and new alternative treatments, you can still catch the episode when it re-airs tomorrow morning at 8am EST on Lifetime Network and again this weekend on Saturday and Sunday at 3pm EST on Lifetime Real Women

In addition to discussing hair loss, we demonstrated the LaserCap, the first device of its kind and the latest breakthrough in laser therapy. The "hands-free” device offers the power of a clinical laser therapy unit in a cordless, rechargeable, discreet treatment device that literally 'fits under your hat' for non-chemical, non-invasive, pain-free treatment almost anywhere, anytime.

Tune in this weekend for more information, or visit, www.baumanmedical.com to learn more about low level laser therapy.

LaserCap Offers Discreet Treatment for Hair Loss

There is a new treatment for hair loss that proves a hat can do more than hide your thinning hair.

The first device of its kind, LaserCap offers patients a discreet and non-invasive treatment option, which can be easily worked into their daily routine. The laser, embedded with over 220 laser diodes, simply fits into any hat, which when put on, gives patients complete coverage of their scalp.

The LaserCap is unique because it doesn't require the patient to stand in front of a mirror manually 'combing' with a laser device. Treatment simply consists of wearing the hat for 15 minutes, which can easily be combined with exercise, work, or even grocery shopping.

Low Level Laser Therapy devices have been approved by the FDA for treating hair loss and there are numerous other products out on the market. These include the Erchonia THL-1, Sunetics Laser Brush and the HairMax LaserComb.
As with any treatment, there are limitations to what laser therapy can do. If hair follicles are dead and gone and there's no hair production, you aren't likely to see much improvement.

The Year In Hair - 4 Key Developments

Now that 2010 is almost at an end, it's worth looking back at the "Year In Hair." After all, several important new tests and treatments became available this year.

Here are my picks:

#1:  NeoGraft FUE. The revolutionary NeoGraft™ hair transplant device allows surgeons to efficiently harvest follicles individually from the back of the scalp, leaving no linear scar.

#2:  LaserCap™. First device to deliver ‘clinical-grade’ low level laser therapy in a convenient, at-home device.

#3:  HairCheck™. Scientifically-proven way to measure Hair Mass Index (HairNumber™), an indicator of how much hair is growing from a given area of scalp for comparison over time. Also accurately measures hair-breakage, a common cause of hair loss in women.

#4:  Finasteride Test for Women. The first finasteride response test became available for women, which uses genetics to determine how well female hair loss sufferers will respond to Propecia treatments.
