Recession Alert: Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul

Fans can't wait for Aaron Paul's hit show Breaking Bad to return this summer. But I'm curious to see whether or not the young star has decided to take action against his receding hairline.

Paul, 32, tends to keep his hair closely shaven, perhaps to hide the fact that he is seeing some recession in his temporal region. While that is one way to deal with hair loss, there are many other non-invasive treatment options available.

The actor might want to think about a preventative treatment, like FDA-approved Propecia or Rogaine, which could help him avoid any further recession. Paul would hardly be the first celebrity to embrace these treatments, more celebrities are investing in hair restoration than ever before. New technology and non-invasive procedures are selling points for many actors looking to enhance their looks discreetly.

How Does Tom Cruise Do It?

An almost 50-year old Tom Cruise continues to keep his remarkably full hairline. Which leaves many asking, how does he do it? As most people know, the hair loss risk increases with age. But, specifically, at his age, Mr. Cruise is defying a nearly 50-percent chance of hair loss! Again, how does he do it?

It's my guess that Mr. Cruise has taken a very proactive approach in protecting his hairline over the last 10 to 20 years, and probably uses some type of preventative treatment - like FDA approved Propecia. I also wouldn't be surprised if he's used Rogaine from time to time (although treatment should be consistent to be effective) and low level laser therapy.

Just a hunch, but hair as good as his usually requires medical intervention. But will it last forever? Not without medical treatments like the ones I described above. Hair loss today is a treatable condition but proactive treatment and early detections are key to achieving optimal results!

FDA Approves Hair Restoration Robot

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved a machine that combines a computer, a robotic arm, imaging technology and other devices to fight hair loss.

The Artas System is positioned over the man's scalp, to identify and "harvest" follicular units from the side and back of the head. The follicular units are stored until they are implanted into the patient's recipient area using manual techniques.

Artas System officials say is a quicker and less invasive system that can improve hair extraction rates to 750 to 1,000 units an hour.

However, Artas officials say only males with brown or black hair are candidates for the system.

Follicular unit extraction involves using a small dermal punch to individually dissect out follicular units directly from the scalp. The creation of small follicular unit grafts has enabled hair restoration surgeons to create natural appearing hairlines, Artas officials say.
