Jennifer Lawrence Chops Hair: "My Hair Was Fried"

Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence is making headlines for her new dramatic pixie cut. It appears the new look isn't for a new role, but instead, the result of excessive styling for recent roles.

"My hair couldn't get any uglier," she was quoted after the cut. She later clarified her statements by admitting that part of the reason she chopped her hair was because it was "fried from being dyed too much."

Jennifer is hardly the first celebrity starlet to see damage following over-styling. She joins Megan Fox, Carey Mulligan, January Jones and Lady Gaga, who have all admitted to hair woes, and even hair loss, following constant color changes.

Many women don’t realize that chemicals like bleaches and dyes fundamentally change the structure of their hair, making it weaker and more susceptible to breakage and damage. Overusing these treatments and frequent color changes can lead to breakage, hair fallout, loss of density and volume, and in some severe cases, even traction alopecia.

Is Megan Fox Losing Her Hair?

The tabloids are buzzing about rumors that Megan Fox, who stars in the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, suffered hair loss after a salon mishap.

According to a source who spoke to Star Magazine: "She went [back] to a different stylist, and they ended up using a metallic hair dye that reacted to the initial product. Next thing you know, her hair started falling out in clumps!" More details available on Celebitchy.

Is it true? It hasn't been substantiated, so take this latest Hollywood gossip with a grain of salt. However, frequent harsh chemical treatments have been known to cause damage to the hair strands and the underlying follicles - resulting in hair loss in some circumstances. Remember January Jones' admission that frequent hair dyeing had caused hers to fall out? If Ms. Fox really did have a salon mishap though, it's likely to be a temporary problem unless her scalp was actually burned.

January Jones Admits Hair Loss

Mad Men's January Jones is the latest starlet to admit she is suffering from hair loss, saying recently, "I have been every color and now my hair is falling out in clumps. I’m going to have to shave it off and wear a wig." Check it out on ABC News.

While the news may seem surprising, she joins others Hollywood beauties, including Jennifer Aniston, Lady Gaga, Carey Mulligan, Selma Blair, Lindsay Lohan,Tyra Banks, and Serena Williams, who have all experienced similar struggles with hair loss or thinning.

January, 35, has become known as a chameleon in Hollywood for her ever-changing hair color, behavior the star now attributes to her hair loss. While this kind of routine is no doubt harmful to hair, there are options available that can help her grow healthier hair.

Hair vitamins, such as Viviscal, can aid those suffering from hair loss or thinning in achieving stronger, healthier hair. However, if January wants to optimize her results, which as a young star I'm sure she does, I would recommend combining the supplement with a regimen of Low Level Laser Therapy which is known to stimulate growth and help create thicker, fuller, healthier hair.
