Is Kate Middleton's Hair Worse Than Prince William's?

During a recent visit to a homeless charity in London, Prince William raised a few eyebrows by calling out his wife's "nightmare" hair. But perhaps it was just a bit of lighthearted retaliation for her earlier joke that he should cover his ever increasing bald spot with a tuft of alpaca wool

Kate Middleton's hair is of course beyond reproach, but many people wonder - why doesn't William simply fix his bald spot?

Hair loss is a treatable condition, and it wouldn't be difficult for Prince William to significantly reduce his bald spot and prevent further hair loss if he were to visit a qualified hair restoration physician (or 'trichologist' as it's known in the UK). For the Prince, a multi-therapy treatment regimen would likely work best and could include Propecia, Formula 82M and a NeoGraft FUE hair transplant. There are other options too like Vampire PRP therapy and low level laser therapy. All of these treatments have been proven effective at treating male pattern hair loss.

At just 32 years old, Prince William is a bit ahead of the curve when it comes to losing hair, but baldness is not uncommon in a man's 30s. Given the state of his father's (Prince Charles) hairline, this type of hair loss was not unexpected - and other men who have baldness on either side of their family should consider undergoing a HairDX genetic test to determine if they are also at risk for androgenetic hair loss.

Postpartum Hair Loss Watch - Duchess Kate Middleton

The Duchess of Cambridge recently gave birth to a baby boy - but now that she's in the postpartum phase, she could start to see some associated hair loss.

Postpartum hair loss is relatively common - but don't worry, it isn't permanent. The medical community believes it could be triggered by the hormonal fluctuations that occur during this period. While pregnant, women see a surge in their estrogen and progesterone levels (which is why women have such great hair when pregnant) - and after the baby is born, these levels return to the pre-pregnancy level. It is this sudden drop-off in hormone levels that causes the hair follicles to go into short-term shock.

As a result, shedding is quite common in the weeks, and months, following the delivery.

Duchess Kate may not experience postpartum hair loss - but if she does, I hope her doctors will tell her not to worry. Postpartum hair loss is normal, temporary, and shouldn't be a problem.

Cheryl Cole's Hair Tops U.K. Survey

Singer and TV personality Cheryl Cole has been named the celebrity with the most inspirational hair - according to a new U.K. survey. In the survey, conducted at salons throughout the country, Cheryl's luscious locks not only came out on top, but dominated the competition, getting more than 30 percent of the votes, though Kate Middleton came in a close second with 26 percent.

For women looking for enviable hair, start by eating a healthy and well-balanced diet, because how you eat can determine how healthy, or unhealthy, your hair is. Women who lack these key vitamins are more at risk of thinning: biotin, anti-oxidants, zinc, iron, Vitamin B and protein. That means women need to eat hair super-foods like red meat, fish, berries, pomegranate juice, beans, artichokes and nuts.

Many woman take calcium supplements to improve their health - but the same should also be true for hair supplements. Scientifically developed treatments like Viviscal Pro actually create longer, thicker, healthier hair. Viviscal is a known go-to treatment for Hollywood starlets to help maintain their shiny, healthy hair.

Balding Prince William to Marry (?)

People magazine is raising the alarm that Prince William might be planning to marry long-time girlfriend Kate Middleton - possibly as early as February! A royal wedding would certainly be HUGE news - but first I have to ask, 'What's up with the hair?'

Prince William is just 28 years old. Yet he has the hairline of a man in his late 40s. Early hair loss is more common than most people realize - overall, men have a 20-percent chance of losing their locks while in their 20s. But in the majority of cases, 20-something hair loss is limited to mild temporal recession. Prince William's case is much more severe.

Were I in the royal family, I'd be urging the Prince to start an aggressive multi-therapy program ASAP. Rogaine and Propecia STAT. Although at this point, he's lost so much that a hair transplant will probably be needed as well (I'd recommend FUE with NeoGraft).

For someone who is so young, and will forever be in the public eye, I'd be surprised if the Prince didn't take some action down the road.
