Jude Law has been going bald for as long as anyone can remember, but except for a few rumored treatments, he's been largely nonplussed about his shrinking hairline.
For those who do care about hair loss and want to avoid it, it's important to know how baldness progresses, the pattern it takes, and what your hairline will eventually look like if you let it go too far. Hair restoration specialists use the "Norwood Scale" to categorize hair loss cases and estimate its progression. Take a look at the chart below. Which of these hairlines matches Jude Law?

Is Jude Law undergoing treatment to stop his hair loss?
The 42-year old actor's hairline has been in the spotlight for a number of years now, due to his highly noticeable temporal point recession which began while he was quite young, but what's interesting is that the hair loss, which is quite extensive in the frontal part of the hairline, doesn't appear to exist at the vertex. Most male pattern hair loss cases follow a typical pattern, as diagrammed by the Norwood Classification Chart. Once a patient sees this type of deep recession in the temporal region, it often progresses further and includes baldness in the vertex. In Jude's case, however, the recession stops at the temporal points, doesn't seem to progress beyond that.
It's possible Jude might be undergoing a treatment like Propecia to keep the hair he has, or he's using concealers to hide thinning which is occurring elsewhere.
Jude stars in a new movie out tomorrow, called "Black Sea."
According to a recent U.K. poll, England football star Wayne Rooney tops the list of best celebrity hair transplants, the Daily Mail reports. Coming in at a close second was actor James Nesbitt.

Participants were also asked to name five celebrities who would most benefit from a hair transplant – and unsurprisingly, Prince William took top honors. The prince's hair woes have often garnered attention from the media and the public. Actor Jude Law came in second on the list as another celebrity who would benefit from a little "follicle intervention."

The actor and writer James Franco has a new movie coming out - 127 Hours, about the heroic survival story of hiker Aron Ralston. But another project Franco has in the works is temporal recession - the 32-year old's hair line is showing signs of recession in recent photos like the one above.
Hair loss is not uncommon for men in their early 30s. It's estimated men have roughly a 30- to 35-percent chance of hair loss during this period. See this photo from my website.
Although the recession isn't too bad yet, Franco should consider using an FDA-approved medication like Propecia or Rogaine to prevent further recession. Otherwise, he could wind up looking like Jude Law in a few more years.
