Hair Loss Watch for Kim Kardashian?

Kim Kardashian recently gave birth to her second child - but now that she has entered postpartum phase, she could start to see some associated hair loss.

Postpartum hair loss is relatively common - but don't worry, it isn't permanent. The medical community believes it could be triggered by the hormonal fluctuations that occur during this period. While pregnant, women see a surge in their estrogen and progesterone levels (which is why women have such great hair when pregnant) - and after the baby is born, these levels return to the pre-pregnancy level. It is this sudden drop-off in hormone levels that causes the hair follicles to go into short-term shock.

As a result, shedding is quite common in the weeks, and months, following the delivery.

After the birth of her first child, Kim revealved she was using "Hairfinity," a hair supplement, to keep her locks looking good for the cameras. The right supplement can help with stimulating healthy hair growth and boosting the overall health of your hair. The truth is, many women take calcium supplements to improve their health - but the same should also be true for hair supplements. Nutritional supplements like the marine-derived protein based Viviscal Professional, one of my personal favorites for patients, and doctor-designed Hair Vitamin Complex can all boost the vitality of your hair.

But remember, these supplements can't do everything on their own! They should be combined with a healthy hair diet, as well as a beauty regimen that doesn't create excess stress on your hair.

We'll have to wait and see if the reality star experiences any postpartum hair loss - but if she does, I hope her doctors will tell her not to worry. Postpartum hair loss is normal, temporary, and shouldn't be a problem.

Kylie Jenner - Risks of Being a Hair Chameleon

While being a hair chameleon can get you a reputation as a fashion risk taker, it can also cause serious damage to your hair.

Following in the footsteps of her older sisters, Kylie Jenner is becoming known for her ever-changing hair style. Trying everything from blue to blonde locks.

But is this behavior putting her hair at risk?

Many women don’t realize that chemicals like bleaches and dyes can fundamentally change the structure of their hair, making it weaker and more susceptible to breakage and damage. Overusing these treatments and frequent color changes can lead to breakage, hair fallout, loss of density and volume, and in some severe cases, even traction alopecia.

If Kylie continues to change up her color frequently, she may want to consider starting on a regimen of hair vitamins, like Viviscal Pro or professional-grade Biotin, which can stimulate healthy hair growth and give your hair's overall health a boost.

J.Lo's 'Mega Hair Volume'

Jennifer Lopez's voluminous hair was center stage during a recent taping of the American Idol auditions in L.A. At 45, her hair is looking better than ever, which begs the question, how does she do it?

No doubt she has a great stylist and is using top-notch products for her hair, but for those who want to go one step beyond cosmetics, consider utilizing advanced medical treatments that have been shown to enhance the volume and thickness of hair, even if that hair has already begun to thin. Treatments like Viviscal Pro, a marine-derived nutritional supplement, and low level laser therapy are both extremely effective. Viviscal helps boost the overall health of the hair follicles themselves, which tend to weaken as we age - think of it like calcium supplements to help stave off osteoporosis. And low level laser therapy uses light energy to stimulate the follicles at the cellular level, boosting cellular metabolism and resulting in increased thickness, fullness and growth in the hair strands.

Of course, cosmetic products are also helpful. A good one to keep in mind is Pantene's AgeDefy line. My clinic was involved in the early research and consumer testing of the AgeDefy Advanced Thickening Treatment product, so I know it well.

Hair Chameleon Nicole Richie Does it Again

Nicole Richie, 32, has become known as a chameleon in Hollywood for her ever-changing hair color. In fact just this week the star ditched her lavender locks for a bolder shade of blue.

Jennifer Lawrence's Awkward Hair Phase

Jennifer Lawrence shocked her fans last fall by debuting a chic pixie cut, but it appears she is ready for a change, as she was spotted around town sporting an awkward length bob. Most women are all too familiar with the awkward hair phase, but if Jennifer wants to escape this stage fast, there are ways she can stimulate healthy hair growth.

1) Jennifer should be eating a diet filled with healthy hair foods, such as red meat, fish, berries, pomegranate juice, beans, artichokes and nuts. If you can stomach it, liver is one of the best foods for your hair. Iron, zinc, biotin, selenium and B-12 and key vitamins for healthy hair growth.
2) Low level laser therapy is a great way to stimulate growth and thickness in the hair. There are several hand-held “laser brushes” available on the market, and even a "LaserCap" that allows you to give your hair a boost wherever you are!
3) Nutritional supplements like the fish-protein based Viviscal Pro, and pharmaceutical-grade biotin, along with prostaglandin analogs can all boost the vitality of your hair.

Kim Kardashian Promotes Hair Supplement

Kim Kardashian revealed one of the secrets behind her luscious long locks with a picture of her hair supplement of choice, "Hairfinity." It is likely that Kim is still seeing some postpartum hair loss and the right supplement can help with stimulating healthy hair growth and boosting the overall health of your hair. Kim is hardly the first celebrity to stump for a hair supplement. Reese Witherspoon, Miley Cyrus and Finola Hughes are all promoters of celebrity-favorite Viviscal.

Is Kim Kardashian Going Bald?

Recent photos of Kim Kardashian have the Internet buzzing that the reality star may be losing her hair. The shots, taken of her in workout clothes, sans makeup, show signs of thinning. Has her love of extensions caught up with her, or is she experiencing postpartum hair loss?

The answer, probably both.
Postpartum hair loss is relatively common - but she doesn't need to worry, it isn't permanent. The medical community believes the hair loss could be triggered by the hormonal fluctuations that occur during this period. While pregnant, women see a surge in their estrogen and progesterone levels (which is why women have such great hair when pregnant) - and after the baby is born, these levels return to the pre-pregnancy level. It is this sudden drop-off in hormone levels that causes the hair follicles to go into short-term shock.

As a result, shedding is quite common in the months following the delivery. But the bottom line is, postpartum hair loss is normal, temporary, and shouldn't be a problem or a cause for major concern.

However, if Kim is trying to hide her thinning through the continued use of hair extensions, she could be risking more severe, and possibly permanent damage. My advice to Kim would be to lay off the extensions, especially during this period when her hair is in a weakened state. But if is she really wants to speed up the hair recovery process, she may want to consider a regimen of low level laser therapy and a vitamin supplement like Viviscal Pro to help stimulate healthy hair growth.

Bravo's Tabatha Coffey Helping to Spread Awareness on Hair Loss

Nearly 40 million women in America suffer from hair loss or thinning, a process that can be particularly devastating for females. But despite how common the condition is among women, it is still often seen as a taboo subject - something Bravo TV personality Tabatha Coffey has set out to change.

The Tabatha's Salon Takeover star has partnered with Viviscal natural hair supplements to help raise awareness on hair loss and encourage women to talk openly about the condition. She joins Reese Witherspoon, Finola Hughes, and Carey Mulligan, who have all endorsed Viviscal, which they credit to helping keep their hair full and healthy.

Viviscal nutritional supplements are clinically proven and tested as an effective tool to improve hair quality and stimulate healthy hair growth. While Viviscal and other nutritional supplements are available over the counter, I recommend Viviscal Pro to my patients, it is a stronger version of the vitamin supplements, which can only be prescribed by a physician. Most patients say they notice an improvement in hair quality and texture within about 6 months of starting the regimen.

The bottom line is, one of the best things you can do for your hair is preventative care, and Viviscal is a simple and effective way to help keep your hair healthy.
