Howard Stern: Does He Wear a Wig? - RadarOnline

When it comes to celebrity hair, there are few people more controversial than Howard Stern. While America's favorite shock jock has long asserted his hair is real, people are still skeptical.

RadarOnline decided to take an in-depth look at Howard's hair, to try and answer the burning question of whether or not he wears a wig. When they asked for my input on the matter, I was able to offer an interesting perspective as I had the opportunity to interview on Howard's show last year to discuss beard transplants, celebrity scruff, and other topics, including briefly, Howard's famous locks.

While an argument can certainly be made that his hair doesn't necessarily match up with his age, having never treated him, I can't say for sure if it is his hair or not. But if it is his hair, my guess would be that he has been using some type of preventative treatment, like FDA-approved Propecia, for years. An occasional dose of low-level therapy might also do wonders for keeping his curly tresses healthy.

For now, it looks like the wig debate continues, but in my experience, hair doesn't look that good without some type of medical assistance. 

A Look at Howard Stern's Hair

In past interviews, when shock jock Howard Stern was asked if he wears a wig, he has professed: "The hair is real, and I don't color it." While many find this statement hard to believe, he has always insisted that despite seeing his dad suffer from hair loss, he has been able to maintain a luscious head of hair. While it is uncommon for men at his age, 60, to have a full set of dark locks, it is possible. 

If it is truly his hair, my guess would be that he has been using some type of preventative treatment, like FDA-approved Propecia, for years. An occasional dose of low-level therapy might also do wonders for keeping his curly tresses healthy. 

I talked with Howard earlier this week, and we discussed everything from the recent rise in beard transplants to the controversy surrounding his hair. Listen the interview, here.

Slash Cuts Divorce Plans

Former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash recently called off plans to divorce his wife of nine years. That's good news, but I'm more interested in the legendary rocker's hair. 


As the rocker has aged, his long curly hair has appeared to be ageless ... Which has led many to speculate that he might be wearing a wig.


It's difficult to tell from the photos if he is in fact using hair extensions, but I don't think so. After all, recent photos show that he has some hairline recession up top. If he was wearing a wig, he'd probably try to hide that too. However, I do suspect the 45-year old is using hair dye to keep his locks a youthful black. (FYI, men have a 40-percent of hair loss in their 40s. The odds of going gray go up considerably too. See my previous post on that subject here.)


But whatever the facts may be, one thing is certain: the guy rocks!
